Diaspora Mission – Understanding the Worldviews of the UK/West

Peter Oyugi serves as a mission catalyst and mentor within the Movement of African National Initiatives (MANI) and is a member of the Core-Coordinating Team. In MANI, he also coordinates diaspora ministry in Europe, leads a mentoring programme for emerging leaders in Africa, and is part of the South to North Africa Partnership Leadership Team.

He hails from Kenya andcurrently resides in the UK, where he has previously served as the Director for African Mobilisation with African Inland Mission, International (AIM International) and as a church Pastor in London. While in Kenya, he was involved in students’ ministry with FOCUS-Kenya for eleven and a half years. He has continued to be a resource person in student ministry for the past 19 years, helping strengthen various Movements in Africa to be focused on evangelism, discipleship, and mission.

Peter remains passionate about the Bible, student ministry, cross-cultural missions, and leadership development. He is also actively engaged in various continental and global mission collaborative initiatives,includingbeing on the World Evangelical Alliance Mission Commission Leader’s Cohort, the Lausanne Issue Networks on Diasporas & on Least Reached Peoples, and on the Majority World Christian Leaders’ Conversation Leadership Team in which he is keen to ensure that Majority World voices influence discussions on global missions.  He alsoserves on a number of Councils, including Chair of the Interserve International Council and Chair of the Elders in his local church.

Peter’s academic journey is a testament to his knack for education. He holds an MBA from theUniversity of Liverpool (2012-214), an MA in Global Issues in Contemporary Missions from Redcliffe College, University of Gloucestershire (2006-2010), a Certificate in Theology from Moore Theological College, Australia (2005), and a B. Tech (Hons) in Electrical and Communications Engineering from Moi University, Kenya (1990-1993). 

Peter is married to Cecilia and has two adult daughters.
