Church History – The History of the Church in the Caribbean
Rev. Ronald A. Nathan recently served as the senior minister and pastor of the Hoggard African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Barbados. During 43 years of Christian service, he has been a missionary to Kenya and held pastoral and administrative positions in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. A former Director of the African Caribbean Evangelical Alliance UK and a public theologian, he speaks out on social, racial, and political issues facing persons of African origin and descent.
He travelsextensively to Africa, holding seminars and workshops with Christian leaders and writing on Pan-African affairs.
As a well-knownconsultant/advisor, he is called upon by organisations such as Bread for the World, the Global Missions Department of the A.M.E Zion Church, the National Church Leaders Forum UK, the Black Majority Churches Climate Justice Group, and Christian Aid UK.
Currently, Rev. Ronald A. Nathan holds the esteemed position of Executive Director at the Commission on Relief and Development, Evangelical Association of the Caribbean. In this role, he guides 4 million evangelicals in responding to the myriad physical, social, cultural, and political changes impacting the Caribbean region.
Ronald is the world politics editor at Star of Zion newspaper and adjunct lecturer atSt. John’s College, Durham University.
Ronald’s extensive experience as a Pan-African scholar and writer is utilised by several Christ international non-governmental organisations seeking Christian prophetic insight.
Ronald holds a Master’s in Applied Theology from Oxford University and Westminster College Oxford, UK.
He is married to Glynis Brewster-Nathan and blessed with three adult children and nine grandchildren.
