Dr Charlotte Mayhew

Guest Lecturer - Diaspora Mission: Partnering with Mission Organisations

Charlotte Mayhew is a London City Mission (LCM) Field Director, supporting teams of missionaries to equip local churches for Urban Mission. She oversees LCM’s Diaspora Ministry and has a vision to see the global church in London come together to reach the nations on our doorstep.

Charlotte holds a PhD in Chemistry from the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), which took her into academic research for several years. From there, she felt called into full-time ministry among unreached diaspora communities in London, particularly those from East Africa and the Middle East. Charlotte has spent the last ten years exploring how to share the gospel across cultural boundaries meaningfully and how to envision the church into mission among displaced people across London.

Charlotte is currently enrolled in an MA programme in African Christianity and Missiology with Church Mission Society (CMS) and is particularly passionate about decolonising the dominant structure, thoughts, and practises of mission. Charlotte has also written collaborative research papers within LCM to inform and direct LCM’s diaspora strategy across the organisation.

The Christian landscape across the UK’s major cities has undergone a dramatic shift, with scores of churches from the global south represented. Thus, Charlotte has a passion to see diaspora and non-diaspora churches working together towards gospel transformation across the UK.

Charlotte is based in Streatham, South London, and is married to Ed. Together they have two lovely children.
