Revd Dr Nigel Rooms

Rev Canon Dr Nigel Rooms is an Anglican priest, missiologist and practical theologian based in Leicester, UK. He holds a professional doctorate in missiology from Birmingham University and is an honorary research fellow in the Department of Christian Spirituality, Church History & Missiology at UNISA, South Africa and at The Queen’s Foundation in Birmingham, UK. He works freelance as a consultant on cultural change towards the missio Dei in local churches in the UK and as a facilitator, researcher, editor, author, and spiritual director. He is the founder and co-editor of the journal Ecclesial Futures and, when not elsewhere, leads worship on Sundays at St. Margaret’s, Leicester. He is married to Karen, also a priest who is the Dean of Leicester, and they have two grown-up children.

 

From 1994 until 2001 the family lived and worked in Tanzania, Nigel speaks and writes fluent Kiswahili and crossing cultures has always been a part of their vocation. Nigel has published several books and journal articles in the fields of contextual theology, missional ecclesiology and practical theology.

 

Nigel contributes to our Church History module, which focuses on “The Age of Reason—Enlightenment and its Impact on the History of the Church.”
